2017 Heart of Dallas Fast Pitch

 

 

The third annual Heart of Dallas Fast Pitch took place on Tuesday, November 28 at the House of Blues, Dallas. Six DFW nonprofit finalists that support local youth programs and services were chosen to present a three-minute live on-stage performance, or ‘pitch’, to convince the panel of judges and the audience why their organization deserves grant dollars to help them achieve their mission, vision, and goals.

At this event, $85,000 in grants was shared by the six nonprofits:

Bryan’s House – $10,000
Dallas CASA – $15,000
Jubilee Park and Community Center – $25,000
Rainbow Days – $25,000*
Rise Adaptive Sports – $5,000
Texas Scottish Rite Hospital – $5,000

*Winner of People’s Choice Award that contributed $5,000 to total grant.

Additionally, $15,000 was granted to Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities who received the HODYP Community Excellence Award for their impactful work in the community. Pat and Emmitt Smith were in attendance to accept the award and joined the emcee on stage to discuss the work of their nonprofit as well as provide encouragement for the nonprofit finalists.

Overall, the Heart of Dallas Young Professionals granted $100,000 to deserving nonprofits who will use the funds to continue supporting youth and families in need.
