The Heart of Dallas Young Professionals (HODYP) will be hosting the third annual Heart of Dallas Fast Pitch this fall. HODYP founded the Fast Pitch event to make a significant contribution to the community and recognize DFW nonprofits that support local youth programs and services.
Following an application process, several nonprofits are chosen as finalists to present a three-minute live on-stage performance, or ‘pitch’, to convince a panel of judges and the audience why their organization deserves grant dollars to help them achieve their goals. At the past two events, HODYP has distributed a total of $200,000 to the nonprofit finalists who meet the needs of our local community in unique and compelling ways.
In addition, HODYP also presents the Community Excellence Award to a DFW athlete that has shown leadership in supporting the community that is accompanied by a $10,000 grant to the recipients’ charity of choice. In 2015, the Community Excellence Award was presented to Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks with the grant benefiting the Dirk Nowitzki Foundation. In 2016, Jamie Benn of the Dallas Stars received the award and designated the resulting grant to benefit the MS Society of Dallas.
The date and location for this year’s event will be determined early fall.
