2016 Heart of Dallas Fast Pitch
The second annual Heart of Dallas Fast Pitch took place on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Life in Deep Ellum. Out of almost 100 applicants, six finalists were chosen to present a three-minute live on-stage performance, or ‘pitch’, to convince the panel of judges and the audience why their organization deserves grant dollars to help them achieve their mission, vision, and goals.
The HODYP formed the Fast Pitch to make a significant contribution to the community and recognize DFW nonprofits that support local youth programs and services. At this event, $100,000 in grants was shared by the six nonprofits finalists, The MS Society as designated by Dallas Stars player Jamie Benn, and CitySquare, a longtime Heart of Dallas partner. Below is a list of the winning nonprofit finalists:
*Received an additional $5,000 as the winner of the People’s Choice Award which was determined by audience voting.
The evening also included the presentation of the HODYP Community Excellence Award. This award recognized one of Dallas’ most esteemed athletes, Jamie Benn of the Dallas Stars. The HODYP presented Jamie with a $10,000 grant to benefit the MS Society of Dallas. Jamie was in attendance to accept the award and help acknowledge the great work of the nonprofit Heart of Dallas Fast Pitch participants.
The Heart of Dallas Fast Pitch could not have happened without the support of our sponsors and media partners.
